Mission: The mission of the St Vincent de Paul Society is to deepen the Catholic faith of its members – to go out into our nation to heighten awareness of Jesus Christ.

We do this by sharing ourselves – who we are and what we have – with the poor on a person to person basis. We seek to cooperate in shaping a more just and compassionate Australian community and to share our resources with our twinned countries. Our preferred option in this mission of service is to work with the poor in development, by respecting their dignity sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

The mission of the Society goes to the heart of the gospel. It centres on the compassion of Jesus Christ, whose sympathy, gentleness and concern for the poor and disadvantaged is an inspiration to us all. While we are a ministry to this parish, providing help and assistance to the poor in our surrounding suburbs, we are also representing a part of the Society which is active throughout the world. Our work is confidential.

We do this work by going out in pairs, visiting people in their homes, irrespective of race, colour or creed. In meeting people face to face on their home territory we have an opportunity to get to know them personally. We see their circumstances and thereby gain a more immediate understanding of their problems.

We have a team of very devoted members in our conference and our meetings are joyful. If you may be interested in the Society you would be made most welcome at our meetings. We meet as friends each fortnight on Wednesday at 7:30pm in the Parish Centre Meeting room.
